Rose Ranch

Private Residence

Los Angeles, California

Conceived as a Los Angeles pied-à-terre for a gentleman living between the East and West Coasts, this residence occupies a quintessential Southern California ranch house, its low-slung architecture and Mid-Century undertones providing the foundation for an interior shaped by two very different ways of life.

The project explores the tension between the imbued with the ease and sensuality of Southern California, yet punctuated by the intensity, sophistication, and restless energy of New York. Rooms are composed with an informal elegance—relaxed in spirit yet precise in execution—where strong silhouettes, vintage references, and an eclectic selection of objects lend the house a distinctly personal character.

Materiality becomes the project’s most sensual language. Unexpected combinations of exotic skins, polished and lacquered surfaces, supple suede, soft textiles, exotic woods, and patinated metal are strategically juxtaposed to heighten the experience of touch. Smooth meets tactile, hard meets yielding, and lustrous surfaces give way to finishes that absorb the light. Rather than functioning simply as decoration, these contrasts invite a more instinctive relationship with the interior, awakening the senses as one moves through the house.
